If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. This is one of my all time favorite mottos! It is often the missing puzzle piece when it comes to fitness and nutrition. We plan so much in our lives, but we often fail to plan the most important things: our workouts and meals. With so many temptations, obligations, and occasions, it is imperative that you plan your meals and workouts ahead of time in order to meet your goals.
One way to plan a workout is to literally schedule it in your calendar. Make it an appointment, just like you would anything else. Of course, you can always hire a trainer or meet a workout buddy to have the extra accountability. But scheduling your workouts each week is a must-do in order to make sure you get them in.
Planning nutritious meals is equally important. I have made it a habit of mine to prepare the next days meals the night before. It sounds laborious but it usually takes me 20-30 minutes to get everything together and then I KNOW what I’m going to be eating the next day. Not much room for failure there!
Another way to plan is to have emergency snacks in your car: nuts, apples, dried fruit, etc. This way you won’t run to the nearest drive thru when you are famished and don’t have anything else on hand.
Make the time to plan and you will not be disappointed!
